Buying Nintendo Wii secondhand
- Only the original RVL-001 model plays GameCube discs — the Family Edition and Wii Mini dropped the ports.
- Dual-layer discs (Brawl, and a handful of others) are the first to fail on a tired laser while everything else still reads fine.
- The sensor bar is just two infrared LEDs; a missing one is cheap to replace and not a reason to pass on a console.
Choose your copy
Start with the photos and description of the exact piece. Loose copies suit a playing collection; if you collect boxes and manuals too, check the listed contents before buying. Edition names alone don’t tell you what is included.
For Nintendo Wii games, compare the platform and region printed on the case or cartridge with your system. Treat download codes and bonus content as unavailable unless the listing says otherwise.
